Rangers forward Kai Kennedy has opened up on links with a move to Premier League side West Ham and admitted that he just kept his head down and focused on working hard before completing a season-long loan move to Dunfermline.
The Scotland youth international’s move to the Pars has sparked a bitter reaction from Hammers fans but the Rangers kid let the clubs do their thing and kept his focus on the pitch.
Kennedy could make his Dunfermline debut tomorrow against Stenhousemuir in the Premier Sports Cup and insists he is ready to make his mark at the Fifers after completing his loan move.
“I just kept my head, kept working hard no matter what happened behind the scenes,” Kennedy said.
“Whatever happened, happened and I am just glad to be here and getting back to playing football. I am ready for Saturday. I just need to keep my head and work hard.
“I am just glad to be here. The session was great and the standard was good. The boys were in high spirits of course after good results in the first three games. I think that they are just looking forward to Saturday and hopefully we can get the win that will take us through to the next round.”
Rangers starlet has huge chance to be a standout this season
After spending last season with Raith Rovers and Inverness CT in the same division, Kennedy should be looking to be one of the top players in the Championship this season.
If the 19-year-old wants to seriously look at forcing his way into the first-team at Ibrox, this is his chance to prove exactly what he is capable of.
The odd great game isn’t going to be enough either, Kennedy needs to show consistently why Rangers were so keen to keep him at the club despite the interest from south of the border.
