Rangers defender Fil Helander has sent out a warning to players unwilling to fight for a place at Ibrox, telling them to go join an ‘inferior club’ – and Gers fans on Twitter have been blown away by ‘Fil Struth’s comments.
The Swedish international is yet to taste defeat in the Scottish Premiership since moving to Ibrox and fans were loving the defender’s attitude as he looked ahead to tomorrow’s league opener against Livingston.
Speaking to the media ahead of the Livingston clash tomorrow, Helander said: “If you don’t want competition for places, you can go and play for an inferior club.
“We all want to be here and we all want to play. All of us here enjoy that.”
Unsurprisingly, Rangers fans were loving the Swede’s comments, feeling it typified exactly the sort of mentality they want to see from Steven Gerrard’s side.
With competition from the likes of Niko Katic, Jack Simpson and Leon Balogun, central defence is one of the toughest areas of the Rangers side to get into.
After Helander made it clear he was more than willing to fight to keep his place, Rangers fans on Twitter were full of praise – with one comparing him to iconic Ibrox figure Bill Struth.
Here are some of the comments from Rangers fans after Helander’s “inferior club” remarks:
