Rangers defender Filip Helander has thrown down the gauntlet to anyone not willing to fight for their place in Steven Gerrard’s side – telling them to “go and play for an inferior club.”
The Swedish defender is yet to taste defeat in the Scottish Premiership as he approaches two years at Ibrox and will be a near-certain starter tomorrow when Rangers kick off their title defence against Livingston.
With a host of challengers for his place in the starting XI, Helander has insisted that every one of the players at Ibrox “enjoy” the fight for places.
Speaking to the media ahead of the Livingston clash tomorrow, Helander said: “If you don’t want competition for places, you can go and play for an inferior club. We all want to be here and we all want to play. All of us here enjoy that.
Helander and Connor Goldson seem certain to be the starting centre-back pairing tomorrow, leaving the likes of Leon Balogun, Niko Katic and Jack Simpson all scrambling for spots on the bench.

The Swede has been a fantastic signing since his move from Italy and his partnership with Goldson was a big part of the title triumph of last season.
As the new season gets set to kick off tomorrow, Helander is clearly raring to go as Rangers aim to make it two in a row as well as securing qualification for the group stages of the Champions League.
