Rangers have issues in the left-back position, could the Kilmarnock defender help solve them?

One of Rangers’ opponents on Sunday, Greg Taylor, is attracting interest from German side Nurnberg this summer, The Scottish Daily Mail report (06/08 print edition, page 78).
The paper say that two £500,000 bids for the player have been turned down by Kilmarnock, but that a third bid is expected before the end of the summer transfer window.
Taylor was in impressive form against Rangers at the weekend, with some Gers fans taking to social media to share thoughts on whether the Ibrox side should make a move for the player.
The 21-year-old emerged under Steve Clarke as one of the brightest defensive prospects in the league.
His form was so impressive last season that he was eventually called up by his former club manager to the Scotland national team for matches against Cyprus and Belgium in June, winning his first cap against the latter.
Rangers have problems at left-back currently, with Borna Barisic failing to impress in the early matches this season after fitness problems last term.
Pundit Kris Boyd claimed at the weekend he might not be good enough to play for the club.

Andy Halliday is available to play back-up, but he’s a player who has performed primarily as a midfielder throughout his career. Jon Flanagan is still around too but he’s naturally right-sided.
Signing Taylor, who may be available for a pretty modest fee if Nurnberg’s reported interest is anything to go by, could add serious competition to the position. He’s a player with significant potential who could even eventually become a prime pick in Steven Gerrard’s team if he continues to progress.
The Gers shouldn’t be letting such a talent leave Scottish football for Germany without at least sounding out a potential move.
Previously reported by The Daily Record to be interested in the player, the time is now right for them to firm that up with enquiries.
