Sean Dyche seemingly won’t be heading to Rangers having shown no interest in replacing Giovanni van Bronckhorst in the Ibrox dugout.

The Gers made the decision many have been expecting, sacking manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst on Monday.

The Dutchman had Rangers miles behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership and endured a truly terrible Champions League campaign.

Yes, reaching the Europa League final last season was outstanding but Van Bronckhorst hasn’t been able to replicate that success this term.

Sean Dyche shows no interest in Rangers job

Just over a year since having to replace Steven Gerrard, Rangers are in the market for a new manager once again.

A host of names have already been linked and it looks like Michael Beale – Gerrard’s former Rangers assistant – is the favourite.

Some have though wondered whether Sean Dyche could be tempted up to Ibrox.

Dyche worked wonders in almost 10 years at the helm with Burnley, taking them into the Premier League twice and even taking them into Europa League qualifiers.

The 51-year-old’s work at Burnley was hailed as ‘unbelievable’ by Ray Parlour, who wouldn’t have been against him becoming Arsenal boss.

Dyche left Burnley earlier this year and has yet to secure a route back into football, but set tongues wagging earlier this month when he highlighted his relationship with Rangers director of football Ross Wilson.

Some believed that Ibrox connection would see Dyche head to Rangers as Van Bronckhorst’s successor.

However, the Scottish Daily Mail (22/11, back page) report that Dyche is not in the running for the Rangers job.

It’s stated that Dyche is a ‘non-starter’ and has not put his name forward for Rangers to consider.

There may still be time for Dyche to change his mind and enter the race but it sounds like the Englishman just isn’t all that keen on a move to Ibrox.

Dyche would be well within his rights to hold out for a Premier League job after his incredible work at Burnley.

It’s a shame that Dyche isn’t a contender for Rangers as he could have offered interesting competition for Ange Postecoglou and Celtic given his tough approach and style of play, but the Gers will have to look elsewhere.
