Rangers are reportedly preparing a £5million bid to sign Celtic target Antoine Semenyo from Bristol City – but Frank Lampard was considering a move to bring him to Everton in the summer, that price tag should tempt him again.

Semenyo, 22, has impressed at Ashton Gate since joining The Robins in 2018. Clocking up 117 senior appearances for Bristol City since then, he has had a hand in 38 goals since then. Playing up top or out wide, his deal ends in 2023.

Bristol City do have the chance to extend his contract for a further 12 months and if they are to bring in some cash, they are likely to do so. But Old Firm rivals Rangers and Celtic are likely to head to head, with the Gers preparing a bid.

Indeed, Sports Ghana World claim that Rangers are to table a £5million offer for the three-time Ghana international. Celtic remain keen. But the bargain price tag should have Frank Lampard and Everton on red alert for the attacker.

Back in the summer, The Mail said Everton were considering a move for the attacker. Now, for a fee that Everton will find is easily affordable – they have got to rival Nathan Patterson’s old side. He would add a bit of pace and guile.

Rangers preparing Semenyo bid: Price tag should tempt Everton

Indeed, the reports in the summer claimed that Semenyo was rated in the region of £12million. Given that the Toffees were keen, signing a player they might have spent £7million more on in the summer will surely tempt Lampard.

Everton do have options on the flanks. But Anthony Gordon has moved into the 10 role, while Andros Townsend remains on the sidelines. Alex Iwobi is now a central midfielder. Demarai Gray and Dwight McNeil are options.

But Semenyo would give Everton another player to use up top, one that can score goals and create – but also one from out wide. He has huge potential and for £5million, it is a no-brainer for a club like Everton in the Premier League.
