Sports Ghana World claim Rangers are set to table an offer of £5million to sign Bristol City striker and Celtic target Antoine Semenyo, with the player currently out of contract at the end of the current campaign at Ashton Gate.

Semenyo, 22, joined Bristol City in the summer of 2018 – since clocking up 115 appearances in all competitions for The Robins. In that time, the versatile attacker has had a hand in 38 goals – scoring 17 goals, and laying on 21 assists.

The London-born star has been impressive, winning the Championship Player of the Month award in January. Bristol City do have the option of extending his contract by a further 12 months and it is likely, that will be taken up.

Indeed, Bristol City do not want to lose the three-time Ghana international on a free. In January though, his future will be up in the air and a move north of the border is possible. The report says Celtic are long-term admirers.

However, Rangers are looking to blow their Old Firm rivals out of the water to sign Semenyo. They are preparing a £5million bid. A player, that Bristol City boss Nigel Pearson says “must be a nightmare to play against.”

Semenyo would be a wonderful signing. A player that is lightning fast, boasting plenty of goals and assists at a decent standard. He is also young enough to improve very quickly, especially in front of an Ibrox, or a Parkhead crowd.

Is he worth £5million? Right now, perhaps not but he has the future potential to easily surpass that fee. He would be a really good signing in a Rangers side that desperately need a spark in attack. Semenyo would get fans on their feet.
