Rangers have already recalled two loanees this month at Ibrox, as well as signing two new players.
Ostracised by Rangers, Harry Forrester has told loan AFC Wimbledon’s official website that he is confident of earning a second chance at Ibrox despite being overlooked for a January recall.
Forrester, 27, was loaned to English League One side Wimbledon in the summer by Pedro Caixinha after falling down the pecking order following the signing of Carlos Pena and the presence of Croatia international Niko Kranjcar.
The attacking midfielder has impressed in Neil Ardley’s side, scoring three goals and creating a further five strikes during his 24 league and cup outings. But his future at either Ibrox or Wimbledon remains unclear.
Forrester told Wimbledon’s website that it is “amazing” to play for Rangers, but was less sure over his future. With his Rangers contract set to expire in May 2019, Forrester remains optimistic over a second chance.
“It’s amazing to play for Rangers, and I got on really well with the fans there. It’s an experience I’ll never forget. I have next year up there as well, so maybe I’ll get another chance. I know that football is all about opinions,” Forrester said.
“I’ll have to wait and see. It’s an institution – every time you go into work you are representing a huge football club. I have a young daughter in Birmingham, so that aspect was tough, but it was an experience I couldn’t turn down.”
Rangers have already recalled Andy Halliday and Michael O’Halloran from their loans this month, while the sale of Carlos Pena to Caixinha’s new side Cruz Azul has seen a space in the number 10 slot become vacant.
Rangers fans have continually urged Murty to bring the former Doncaster Rovers ace back to Ibrox this month, as his nimble footwork and penetrative passing would boost the Gers’ creativity in the final third.
It remains to be seen where Forrester will be come the January deadline on the 31st at 11pm.
