Ibrox club Rangers have a number of players out on loan.
The 27-year-old has been impressive in the final third for Wimbledon this season, after joining Ardley's side on a season-long loan in the summer.
Having a hand in eight goals, Forrester has scored three himself and laid on another five during his 23 league and cup appearances as his attacking precision gives Wimbledon hope of avoiding relegation.
The Scottish Sun claimed on Monday morning that Rangers were set to recall midfielder Andy Halliday from Azerbaijani side FK Gabala this month, and manager Graeme Murty will have a decision to make on the future of Forrester too.
Rangers fans have taken to Twitter in an attempt to convince the 43-year-old manager what to do, with many desperate to see the playmaker pull on the Light Blue shirt once again.
One fan even described the former Brentford and Doncaster Rovers ace as a "player that can really be the difference", with Carlos Pena hardly proving his worth in the number 10 role.
A player who can really be the difference, stay fit & there is space in that team. #ProudToBeBritish— Jack Goodfellow (@JackGoodfellowX) January 1, 2018

Really hope Graeme Murty is the one that can make @harry_forrester screw the nut, cracking raw talent but oblivious attitude issues. He’s worked his magic on Windass so hope Harry is next.— Sack The Board (@1234512345abc1) January 1, 2018
If Rangers don’t bring back Harry Forrester then there’s gonny be major problems— jack (@jackErroch19) January 1, 2018
