Former Schalke goalkeeper Martin Fraisl is now training with Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich months after being offered a contract by Scottish Premiership giants Rangers, as reported by Sky Sports.
Well, at least there are still three weeks of the window remaining. That was the only real positive Rangers fans could take from Tuesday’s most insipid of 2-0 defeats to Union Saint-Gilloise in the Champions League qualifiers.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst has thrown his weight behind Jon McLaughlin at the start of this season. But the perennial number two hasn’t exactly made a convincing start to life as Rangers’ number one, his first-half blunder in midweek summing up a limp and lifeless display; One that could bring an end to the Gers’ Champions League journey before it ever really began.
The continued availability of Martin Fraisl, then, could still come in very handy.
Where will Martin Fraisl end up? Bayern Munich or Rangers?

According to German publication Spox, Rangers offered the late-blooming shot-stopper a two-year contract at Ibrox earlier this year, when it became apparent that Bundesliga.2 winners Schalke were not going to extend his stay at the Veltins Arena.
This have gone quiet since then, however. Especially after Van Bronckhorst promoted McLaughlin while handing 40-year-old Allan McGregor a more-than deserved contract extension.
And what of Fraisl? Well, he still doesn’t have a club to call his own.
But, according to Sky Sports, the Austria international is currently being put through his paces at Bayern Munich’s Sabener Strasse training ground. Fraisl to Bayern; Not a number anyone had on their transfer window bingo sheet.
Whether Fraisl could actually be offered the chance to sign on the dotted line at the Allianz Arena remains to be seen.
Julian Nagelsmann already has two vastly experienced shot-stoppers in Manuel Neuer and Sven Ulreich. There is a possibility, however, that Fraisl could sign a short-term deal with Bayern’s reserve team. The Bavarian giants currently have four junior goalkeepers unavailable through injury, after all.
If Rangers are still thinking about making a move, now would be the opportune time.
