Rangers have been told to offload Alfredo Morelos.
The Colombia international is regularly linked with a transfer away from Ibrox and this summer is no different.
On this occasion, Morelos is being linked with a move to Sevilla in Spain and it’s been reported this week that the South American would be ‘delighted’ to quit Rangers in favour of the Liga outfit.
Morelos joined the Gers for a bargain £1 million five years ago and there’s been no end of speculation about his future since then.
And former Celtic great Peter Grant believes that the 26-year-old is a liability and that the light Blues themselves ‘must be sick’ over the never-ending tide of speculation about their player.
He told Go Radio: “People talk about Morelos going to Spain or whatever, but Rangers must be sick of it because it happens every year with him.
“I’ve never been a big fan, last year was probably his best period in the European games. He was excellent against Dortmund but I thought he was a liability prior to that in league matches and cup competitions back here, the bread and butter stuff.”
Honestly, Grant may have a point.
Morelos is a good player and all, of which there’s zero doubt, but he hasn’t looked the same player under Giovanni van Bronckhorst as he did during Steven Gerrard’s reign.
And there’s always going to be a tolerance level which Rangers will not accept any longer, if he isn’t doing the business on the pitch.
He spent the final few months of last season out injured, which is another reason why the Dutch manager might finally decide to cash in.
