Rangers can go 22 points clear at the top of the Premiership today

Ianis Hagi is in from the start as Rangers aim to stretch their lead at the top of the table with a win against Aberdeen this afternoon.
Hagi was benched for last weekend’s crucial 1-0 win over Celtic at Ibrox, but made a big impact after coming on at half-time for the injured Kemar Roofe.
There’s no place for the striker in today’s squad, with Ryan Jack missing out on a return to his former ground. Scott Arfield is also among the absentees.

Rangers kicked off the season with a 1-0 win in this fixture, leaving Pittodrie victorious thanks to a Ryan Kent strike.
He’s named in the starting lineup today as Steven Gerrard’s men aim to go 22 points clear, with Celtic not playing until tomorrow night when they play host to Hibs.
STARTING XI: McGregor, Tavernier, Goldson, Balogun, Barisic, Kamara, Aribo, Davis, Kent, Hagi, Morelos
SUBS: McLaughlin, Bassey, Helander, Patterson, Zungu, Barker, Stewart, Defoe, Itten
The league leaders ran out 4-0 winners when the sides last met, with Kent, Roofe, Arfield and captain James Tavernier all scoring in the 4-0 victory at Ibrox.
As quoted by the official Rangers website, Gerrard said of today’s opponents: “They are a good team and they have got good players.

“They have players returning from injury and they obviously had a few that were missing due to Covid situations over the last couple of fixtures I think it was, so it’s always going to be a tough challenge.
“Derek is a good coach and he has the team well-drilled. He squeezes every little bit out of his players in terms of having them ready to compete, and they have got players that can really hurt you.
“So my respect for Aberdeen and what we are going to face is certainly there. Having said that, we are going up to Pittodrie and we went up there at the beginning of the season and performed ever so well.

“It was a really calm atmosphere, very different to a normal Pittodrie, and we went up there and deserved our victory.
“We are looking to try and do the same thing. We’re going up there for three points and looking for a performance that deserves the three points. I believe if we can get close to our best, we’re confident we can get what we want.”
