The brother of Celtic youngster Bosun Lawal could join Old Firm rivals Rangers, according to All Nigeria Soccer, although Steven Gerrard’s side face competition from Premier League clubs Liverpool and Newcastle United.
Celtic fought off competition from a host of clubs to seal Lawal’s signature in July – including European champions Chelsea – snapping up the highly rated box-to-box midfielder on a three-year deal from Watford.
And it seems Rangers may be looking to take a leaf out of their rivals’ book after Lawal’s older brother caught the eye of Glasgow-based scouts.
According to All Nigeria Soccer, 19-year-old Oluwasegun Lawal appears to be on his way out of sixth-tier Chippenham Town, with a massive step up the football ladder awaiting.
The adaptable attacker has admirers not only at Ibrox but also at Anfield, not to mention Newcastle United, Crystal Palace and Leicester City.
In an intriguing twist of fate, it’s understood Lawal could also follow in the footsteps of his younger brother, with Watford casting their eyes over a player who made his debut for Chippenham’s first team during Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Braintree.

In Steven Gerrard, Patrick Vieira, Brendan Rodgers and Jurgen Klopp, four of the clubs fighting for Lawal’s signature can boast a manager with an impressive track record when it comes to blooding and developing exciting, up-and-coming talent.
The likes of Conor Gallagher, Marc Guehi and Michael Olise have made a massive impression under Vieira at Crystal Palace, playing a major role in the coupon-busting 2-0 victory at Premier League champions Manchester City at the weekend.
A move to Glasgow, however, would see Lawal reunited with his younger brother north of the border. And Rangers may have Celtic to thank if the teenager chooses Ibrox over an array of alternatives.
Bosun Lawal, who has been likened to Everton enforcer Abdoulaye Doucoure, has yet to make his first-team debut in the green and white of Celtic but has caught the eye for the club’s reserve side.
