Rangers captain James Tavernier has insisted that he feels at “home” at Ibrox as he confessed he will “always pay Rangers back” for being the first club that really believed in him to succeed.
The skipper recently signed a new deal to extend his stay at Ibrox 2024 and will get his hands on his first piece of silverware next month when Rangers are presented with the Premiership trophy.
Tavernier moved to Rangers in 2015 from Wigan Athletic having had seven loan spells over the previous four years and has gone on to write his name into Ibrox folklore with his incredible scoring record from defence.
With a new challenge emerging for his place in the side from Nathan Patterson, Tavernier is loving life at Ibrox as he look to continue to pay back the Gers for their faith in him.
“I definitely feel at home here,” Tavernier said, as quoted by the Scotsman.
“Rangers gave myself and my family that foundation where I was enjoying my football. Before that, I was on loans and getting called back, not really playing proper football. Rangers is the first club that had the faith in me to give me that platform.

“I will always pay Rangers back for that and I’m loving what I’m doing at the minute, so I just have to continue working hard and see what happens. I am delighted the club and the gaffer put faith in me to extend my deal. I am really, really happy at this time.”
