Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara is emerging as the top target for Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard ahead of the January transfer window.
That’s according to TEAMtalk, who claim that Gerrard has now put Kamara at the top of his January wish list.
Rangers are thought to be considering a big sale in January amid rumours linking the likes of Nathan Patterson, Joe Aribo and Ianis Hagi away from Ibrox.
Gerrard is thought to be a huge fan of Kamara and always wanted to take him from Rangers to Villa.
VIlla’s need has now been heightened because holding midfielder Marvelous Nakamba has picked up a significant knee injury.
Kamara is viewed as a player who can come and slot into Villa’s midfield, though whether Rangers would want to lose the Finn to Gerrard is another matter.
What has Villa boss Gerrard said about Kamara?
In 2019, Rangers signed Kamara from Dundee. Gerrard quickly became a fan, calling him a ‘lovely footballer’ and a ‘Rolls Royce’.
Gerrard admitted in 2020 that Kamara had been ‘fantastic’ under him, developing into a better player.

It’s therefore no great shock that Gerrard now wants Kamara at Villa.
Some have wondered if Gerrard would raid Rangers for Joe Aribo, but Kamara may make more sense.
Aribo is attack-minded and skilful, but with Nakamba out, Villa need a midfielder who will recycle possession alongside John McGinn.
Kamara can be that player – and Rangers may soon face a big decision on his future.
