Mick Beale’s Rangers are preparing a ‘serious January bid’ for Portugal-based playmaker Benedito ‘Beni’ Mukendi with the Angolan valued at around £500,000, according to the Scottish Sun.
After returning to Ibrox and taking over from Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Beale wasted no time trying to get Glen Kamara’s head back in the game. The Finland international had fallen dramatically out of favour under his predecessor.
According to reports, Kamara is looking to leave with Salernitana offering him a fresh start in Serie A. Though not if Beale can help it.

Benedito ‘Beni’ Mukendi targeted amid concerns over Glen Kamara’s Rangers future
“Glen has got 100 per cent of my trust,” Beale, who brings Kamara’s ex-Arsenal coach Neil Banfield with him to Scotland, told the Scottish Sun.
“(Kamara) was hugely important in my previous time here. And, while he’s still young, he’s coming into the prime of his career. He will be a big player for Rangers moving forward.
“Neil Banfield had him for a number of years through the Arsenal academy. And I worked with Glen for three and a half years. If we can’t help then I’m not sure anyone can, in a Rangers shirt.”
Reports claiming that Rangers are preparing an assault for 20-year-old CD Trofense midfielder Beni, however, may suggest that Beale is reluctantly planning for life without Kamara.
YouTube complications can be a little misleading. But rattling through clips of Beni in action in the Portuguese second tier, the similarities with Kamara certainly stand out. He is tall, rangy but elegant in possession. Composed in possession and happy to take the ball under pressure in his own half; Beni seems to keep things simple with his passing.
He also appears to play in the sort of roving right-sided central midfield role Kamara made his own during Beale’s first spell alongside Steven Gerrard.
According to The Sun, Rangers are ‘preparing a serious January bid’ in an attempt to ward off rival offers. Beni, valued at around half a million pounds, could also be offered a bigger financial package at Ibrox than at some of the other clubs showing an interest; Braga, to name but one.
