Glasgow Rangers won’t be welcoming a familar face back to Ibrox in a managerial role this summer.

It is growing increasingly unlikely that Rangers will hire Graeme Murty on a long-term deal this summer.
The 43-year-old was named Gers boss until the end of the season in December after the Ibrox club tried and failed to hire a permanent successor to Pedro Caixinha, with Derek McInnes snubbing the switch.
And despite Murty making a very strong case for himself at times, one point from the last three Premiership games – including the 3-2 defeat by Celtic last month – means that the former Reading defender probably won’t get the job.
Back in March, Rangers fans on Twitter expressed their desire to see former midfielder Gennaro Gattuso return to the Blues in a managerial role at some point in the future, but that looks unlikely to materialise any time soon.

The 40-year-old, who told The Record in February that he loved the club after spending the 1997-98 season in Glasgow, has signed a contract extension at AC Milan in a move which keeps him at San Siro until 2021 potentially.
Gattuso has won nine of his first 16 Serie A games in charge of the Italian giants and if Murty does part company with Rangers this summer, Gattuso almost certainly won’t be replacing him at Ibrox.
