Rangers announced the appointment of Michael Beale yesterday as the 42-year-old returned to Ibrox to replace Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
It took the Bears just under a week to find a new manager after handing the Dutchman his P45 in Glasgow, following a terrible run of results.
Rangers find themselves sat nine points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, and also recorded the worst Champions League campaign ever.
Despite Beale’s significant potential in management, we believe Rangers fans should already be fearing the worst if he does well at Ibrox.
What’s the story?
Well, Beale’s return to Scotland just doesn’t sit right with us.
It was only a month ago that the Bromley-born tactician rejected a move to Wolves in favour of staying at Queens Park Rangers, as he made himself out to be a beacon of loyalty at Loftus Road.
Sky Sports quote Beale as saying: “I have been all-in here and I have asked other people to be all-in so I can’t be the first person to run away from the ship.”
Of course, people can change their mind, but that is where the problem lies.
How are the Rangers fans, or the players, meant to trust Beale after such a significant U-turn?
In our view, we wouldn’t be surprised to see a repeat of the manner in which Steven Gerrard walked away from Rangers in the middle of the season with Beale, following his questionable decision to ditch QPR.
If he does well in Glasgow, and a top Premier League side make an approach for his services, it now feels very likely that he would jump ship and desert Rangers, with question marks over his character now rife.
Rangers must be prepared for Michael Beale exit
Of course, it sounds strange to say that Rangers should already be preparing to replace a manager they have just appointed, but as QPR have now found out, Beale is unpredictable.

We would expect Beale to stay at Rangers for at least a year, although those in the boardroom at Ibrox should already be exploring potential replacements and making an emergency list, just in case they suffer the same fate as QPR.
Hopefully, Rangers can enjoy some success under Gerrard’s old assistant, but we would advise supporters against becoming too attached to their side’s new boss.
