Veteran Rangers star Steven Davis has paid tribute to Gers number one Allan McGregor after his man of the match performance in yesterday’s Old Firm win over Celtic.
McGregor pulled off a string of impressive saves before denying Odsonne Edouard from the penalty spot as Rangers secured their place in the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup win a 2-0 win.
While Davis doesn’t think referee Bobby Madden made the right decision to point to the spot, the Northern Irishman was delighted when McGregor stepped up to save Edouard’s penalty and record his fourth penalty save in Old Firm clashes.
“It was a great save and you cannot speak highly enough of him,” Davis told Rangers TV. “He has had an outstanding season again and we all know how good he is.
“I don’t think it was a penalty, but he was there to save it when called upon and he has been there for us many times this season.”
The Rangers duo will now turn their attention to the double-header against St. Johnstone as they aim to extend their unbeaten run in the league before a Scottish Cup quarter-final clash next weekend.

The midweek Premiership clash will likely see one or two tweaks to the side as Gerrard prioritises the Cup and there could even be one or two fringe players brought in from the cold.
