Rangers hero Kris Boyd has taken a pop at bitter rivals Celtic and insisted there is “absolutely no chance” Jose Mourinho will be taking the reins at Parkhead.

Mourinho has been touted as a potential candidate despite there being no realistic chance of him rocking up in Glasgow’s east end, with Boyd rubbing salt into Celtic fans’ wounds by saying Mourinho should consider a move to Ibrox instead as Steven Gerrard’s replacement.

Speaking on Sky Sports last night (April 21, 8.13pm), Boyd wanted to move on from the fanciful suggestion of Mourinho at Parkhead, as he landed the dig on the Premiership runners-up, saying: “On the Jose Mourinho stuff, if Steven Gerrard was to leave Rangers he might want to come there because that’s a bigger club.

“But Celtic? Absolutely no chance.

“Let’s move on.”

Rangers fans will be hoping Gerrard doesn’t leave Ibrox any time soon – and given the style of play employed by the Light Blues, Mourinho isn’t likely to be a popular replacement.

With interim Celtic boss remaining in situ until the end of the season, there could be a lengthy wait to see who is next in the hotseat at Parkhead.

Like Boyd said last night though, we should “move on” from the notion the ‘Special One’ will be spotted heading down the Gallowgate any time soon.
