Rangers B made it three wins from three yesterday, beating East Stirlingshire 1-0 at the Falkirk Stadium to top the Lowland League and young keeper Jay Hogarth was delighted to keep a shutout in front of his watching family.
Hogarth, brother of ex-Ibrox keeper Nicky, has recorded three clean sheets so far in the Lowland League and impressed as David McCallum’s side put in a resolute performance to come away with the three points.
The young Rangers B keeper’s dad Myles, himself a former Hearts, Falkirk and Stirling Albion goalkeeper, was among the crowd at a sun-drenched Falkirk Stadium.
“It was really good. I’m from Falkirk myself and it was really good to have a crowd and have some family members watching,” Hogarth told Rangers TV.
“(Three clean sheets) is a real positive. If you’d said we’d have three clean sheets to start the season, we’d have taken that all day long but it’s just a case of taking the next game as it comes.
“It was just a case of trying to keep my concentration and make a save when called upon and thankfully I did.
“We’ll be in (Sunday) for a bit of recovery, gym work and stretching so all that will help us in preparation for Tuesday’s game.”
The games are coming thick and fast for the Colts just now and they could make it four wins from four on Tuesday when they host Civil Service Strollers.
The Rangers B team have made a fantastic start to the campaign and continuing to perform as they have will put them in with a great shot at winning the title.
If they do, it will surely reignite talks over allowing Colts to join the SPFL and allow Rangers’ best young players to be rewarded for any success.
