Rangers midfielder Stephen Kelly has been a near-constant feature in the side over pre-season for Steven Gerrard’s side – and after his latest impressive showing in this afternoon’s draw with Brighton, Gers fan on Twitter want to see far more of the homegrown talent.

Kelly was named in the starting XI for the friendly clash with the Premier League side this afternoon and again caught the eye of the Rangers fans with a composed performance in the middle of the pitch before being replaced after 70 minutes.

Despite only being 21, fans have been left raving about his industrious displays in the engine room, with many suggesting he is being shaped into a long-term replacement for Steven Davis.

After spending last season on loan at Ross County, fans don’t want the Scotland under-21 international to be shipped out again this term.

His performances against the likes of Brighton have really shown that his time in Dingwall was a massive benefit to his development.

Whether Rangers boss Steven Gerrard sees a place for him in the side moving forward remains to be seen given the competition for places but fans are certain he’d be best served to stay at Ibrox this season to compete for a first-team spot.

Here are some of the comments from Rangers fans on Twitter impressed by Stephen Kelly’s performance:
