Rangers youngster Rory Wilson is leaving after announcing his departure – and it looks like he will be joining Aston Villa this summer.
The Gers face a big summer and you can expect to see changes at Ibrox.
Reaching the Europa League final was incredible but Rangers also lost the Scottish Premiership title to Celtic.
Adding some new quality whilst accelerating the development of youngsters like Leon King and Alex Lowry would be perfect.
Yet one youngster who won’t be joining King and Lowry in the Rangers first-team setup is striker Wilson.
Rangers youngster Rory Wilson is leaving
Rangers have held high hopes for Wilson having seen him emerge as one of the top young talents at Ibrox.
The 16-year-old scored a winner against Celtic last month and has been shining in the Scotland youth ranks too.
Wilson looks poised for a big future but he has decided that future lies away from Ibrox.
Wilson, as quoted by The Glasgow Evening Times, has admitted that the time is right for him to move on.
The teenage striker did praise Rangers as being ‘brilliant’ for his development and wanted to thank them for everything they had done.
Wilson admitted that he is probably signing for a club in England and really wants to test himself south of the border.
“Rangers have been brilliant for me. There’s no getting away from that,” said Wilson. “But it’s time to move on and get to the next level. I’d like to thank Rangers for everything they have done for me because it’s been great for me over the last eight years, but it’s time to leave.”
“I’ll probably be going down south. We’ll wait and see what happens in the next couple of weeks. Everything will be sorted very soon. At Rangers, all the coaches have been fantastic for me. I can’t thank them enough for all their help. I want to go down south and try and prove myself and become a top player and that’s what I am going to do,” he added.

There is no shortage of interest in Wilson with Premier League clubs queuing up to sign him.
The Daily Star reported March that Leeds United, Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Newcastle United were all keen.
However it looks like Aston Villa – managed by ex-Rangers boss Steven Gerrard – will be winning the race for Wilson.
The Birmingham Mail reported in April that Villa have a deal ‘done and dusted’ for Wilson.
Wilson’s confirmation that he is leaving Rangers only adds to the notion that a move to Villa is close and we could see some news soon.
