Rangers’ Andy Scoulding is joining Tottenham Hotspur but seemingly won’t be joining the club’s recruitment department.

Tottenham are seeking new recruitment staff after a couple of key departures in 2022.

Steve Hitchen left the club earlier this year, departing his role as Technical Performance Director.

Hitchen was allegedly frustrated with his diminishing influence at Tottenham as a result of Fabio Paratici’s arrival.

Tottenham’s head of recruitment Brian Carey then left the club in April, with Paratici seeking additions.

Tottenham are now poised to land Andy Scoulding but he may not be doing much scouting in North London.

The Telegraph now report that Scoulding is all set to join Tottenham.

It’s claimed that Scoulding will leave Ibrox for a move to Tottenham later this summer after spending five years at Rangers.

Scoulding, 40, was previously a key part of Roy Hodgson’s setup having followed him through spells with Fulham, Liverpool and England.

Scoulding worked with Gary Neville in that England setup, then following him to Valencia before taking up a role as an advisor to Neville’s Salford City.

After a brief stint in Greece with Olympiacos, Scoulding became Rangers’ chief scout back in 2017.

Rangers have added real quality to their squad in that time, signing the likes of Connor Goldson, Calvin Bassey, Joe Aribo, Glen Kamara, Ianis Hagi and Ryan Kent.

Scoulding’s work at Ibrox resulted in a league title in 2021 and Tottenham have now been impressed enough to hire him.

What’s interesting is the claim that Scoulding won’t actually be in the recruitment, which means he may head back to his analysis background from days at Fulham and Liverpool.

Scoulding was a video analyst with England and that could be a welcome boost to Antonio Conte’s setup.

Having Scoulding’s football knowledge will be great even if it’s not in the scouting department, and this move is ultimately a huge blow for Rangers.
