Rangers and Celtic Colts will discover why they will face in the first round of this season’s SPFL Trust Trophy (formerly the Tunnocks Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup) when the draw is made at 2pm.
After the competition was suspended last season as a result of Covid-19, this year will see a return to only Scottish sides featuring – with four sides from the Highland and Lowland Leagues joining up to 12 Premiership Colt sides and the other 30 SPFL clubs.
Rangers reached the semi-finals last time out, losing to Inverness CT after beating Berwick Rangers, Stranraer, Ballymena United, Solhill Moors and Wrexham – and David McCallum and Brian Gilmour’s side will be looking to go one better this season.
The first and second round draws will be made tomorrow before the competition then goes into a bracketed format for the first time ever, allowing clubs and fans to plot their way to the final.
With the Old Firm Colts also taking part in the Lowland League this season, it makes for an interesting challenge for the young Gers as they compete for senior silverware on two fronts.

The draw is regionalised in the early rounds with the SPFL to provide full details ahead of tomorrow’s draw.
First-round ties are scheduled for the midweek of August 10/11, with second-round games due to be played on the weekend of September 4/5.
