Rangers have agreed a ‘six-figure deal’ to sign 19-year-old Colombian striker Juan Alegria, according to a report, with the teen said to be already in Scotland.

The Athletic state that the Colombian will follow countryman Alfredo Morelos in making the move to Ibrox via Finland after a lengthy pursuit of the FC Honka star.

The Colombian youth international scored a double for Honka in what is likely to be his last appearance for the Finns.

Rangers were first linked with a move for Alegria at the start of the year but no deal materialised however, it now seems that the Colombian will be making his way to link up with the Gers imminently.

Alegria will join David McCallum and Brian Gilmour’s B team once his move is confirmed, following the likes of Charlie McCann, as they look to make a mark in their maiden Lowland League campaign.

After scoring twice against Ilves, Alegria was left out of the Honka squad to face SJK Seinäjoki at the weekend.

The 19-year-old is under contract until the end of 2022, forcing Rangers to pay up to lure him to Ibrox but it shouldn’t be too expensive a deal for the Light Blues to complete.

Alegria has represented Colombia at various youth levels, scoring seven goals in seven games at U17 and finishing as top goalscorer at the U15 Copa America.

Despite having experience of European football after playing in the Europa Conference League this season for Honka, Alegria will be effectively starting from scratch when he moves to Rangers.

With plenty of competition for places in the Gers’ B team from the likes of Robbie Ure, Tony Weston and James Graham, Alegria will be in a fight for a place in the side.

A debut against Edinburgh Uni this weekend might come too soon for Alegria but next weekend’s meeting with Vale of Leithen could see him make his first appearance in blue.
