The Light Blues have had a difficult start to the new season, losing three games in a row under Steven Gerrard for the first time before a win over Dunfermline in the League Cup last Friday night.
After losing out to Malmo home and away in the Champions League qualifiers, Rangers now sit 180 minutes away from a place in the group stages of the Europa League.
While Gerrard’s starting XIs so far this season have seen the Rangers boss continually tinker with his side, it seems likely he’ll go as close to full-strength as possible tonight.
Suspension keeps Glen Kamara and Kemar Roofe on the sidelines while Ryan Jack is still out through injury.
Allan McGregor is almost certain to start behind a back four of James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, Leon Balogun and Borna Barisic, although Calvin Bassey’s recent performances have the former Leicester kid pushing for Barisic’s spot in the side.
The absence of Kamara means Gerrard will have to tweak his midfield again and John Lundstram and Steven Davis are the probable pairing to anchor the Ibrox midfield with the Rangers boss likely choosing between Joe Aribo and Ianis Hagi to partner them.
Given his strong start to the season, Hagi is the one who should be given the nod, although Gerrard has a tendency to stick by Aribo when he’s available.
Ahead of them, Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos will be two of the first names on the teamsheet for Rangers and the third member of the Gers’ frot three could depend on selections elsewhere.
If Gerrard opts for Joe Aribo in midfield ahead of Hagi, the Romanian would likely slot in beside Kent and Morelos but if Hagi starts further back Scott Wright will be the one given the chance to shine and continue his recent impressive form.
Rangers Predicted XI: McGregor; Tavernier, Goldson, Helander, Barisic; Davis, Lundstram, Hagi; Wright, Kent, Morelos.
