Rangers striker Chris McKee has been hit with a four-match ban for his red card while on loan at Brechin, after being found guilty of excessive misconduct by a Scottish FA disciplinary hearing.
The teenager was sent off in Brechin’s playoff defeat by Kelty Hearts for apparently using homophobic language, and appeared in front of the SFA’s disciplinary committee on Thursday.
McKee will serve two games immediately, with the other two suspended until the end of the season, ruling him out of the Gers B team’s Lowland League opener against Bo’ness United in two weeks.
Rangers vowed to ‘thoroughly investigate’ the incident after the Northern Irish youngster’s loan ended under a black cloud and the club won’t have taken a light approach.
Rangers kid has gotten off lightly given potential ban he faced

After facing a ban as long as 12 games, McKee has gotten off a little lightly from the Scottish FA.
Rangers will hope McKee has learned his lesson as they have high hopes for the teenager.
With a further two-game ban hanging over his head, he’ll have to make sure he doesn’t step out of line again or he’ll face a heavy punishment.
