Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has raved about Liverpool-owned attacker Takumi Minamino in HampshireLive.
Minamino, who can operate as an attacking midfield or as a winger, joined Southampton on loan from Premier League rivals Liverpool on transfer deadline day.
The 26-year-old Japan international struggled to make an impact at Liverpool since joining the Reds in January 2020 and will hope to have a successful loan spell at St. Mary’s Stadium during the second half of the season.
Southampton manager Hasenhuttl has raved about Minamino and has been impressed by him in training.
Hasenhutt told HampshireLive: “We have with Minamino a fantastic new player. He showed in the first session immediately that he can help us and that gives us all a lift, an emotional lift.”

Making an impact
Southampton are an established club in the Premier League and could end up in the European places in the league table this season.
The Saints play good and attacking football, and Minamino could flourish under Hasenhuttl if he is given the chance to play regularly.
It is very encouraging for Minamino – and for Liverpool – that he has already impressed Southampton manager Hasenhuttl.
The Saints are 12th in the Premier League table at the moment with 29 points from 21 matches.
Southampton, who were hammered 9-0 by Manchester United at Old Trafford on Tuesday evening, will take on Newcastle United at St. James’ Park in the Premier League on Saturday.
