The Wolverhampton Wanderers manager played a big part in bringing the Spaniard to Molineux.

Rafael Mir of Valencia controls the ball during the UEFA Youth Champions League match between Celtic and Valencia at Celtic Park on February 10, 2016 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Wolves new-boy Rafa Mir spoke exclusively to reporters after completing his £1.5 million switch from Valencia yesterday, and opened up on the role Nuno Espirito Santo played in convincing him to choose Molineux over other options, as quoted by the Express & Star.

The 20-year-old has joined a team in fine form, with the Black Country outfit currently sitting comfortably at the top of the Championship table, 12 points clear of second placed Derby County.

Promotion to the Premier League seems to be a mere formality for Wolves this season, but Nuno’s men will not be allowed to ease up over the 20 league games that still remain.

With Mir now on board, Wolves will surely be an even more dangerous prospect going forward, and the rest of the Championship but be looking over at Molineux with envy.

The Spaniard spoke to reporters after swapping the Mestalla for Molineux, and highlighted how Nuno convinced him to move to the Black Country, as quoted by the Express & Star:

“I’m really excited to play with this team and to try and help the players achieve all the goals that the club has. Nuno played a big part of my decision to come here. Wolves is a big project and it’s an exciting challenge to be a part of it. It’s great to be able to work with a coach that I already know and that was an important factor in signing for the club.”

Next up for Wolves is an FA Cup clash with Premier League side Swansea City on Saturday, and it is unclear whether Mir will be included in Nuno’s squad.

He will most definitely have a part to play in their promotion push, however, as the Black Country outfit close in on a return to the Premier League.
