Anita Asante has given her verdict on the goal that Pape Matar Sarr scored for Tottenham Hotspur against Brighton and Hove Albion at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The former Chelsea FC Women and England international was impressed by the way Sarr took his goal in the Premier League game between Spurs and Brighton.

Well, Tottenham Hotspur beat Brighton and Hove Albion at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday. It finished 2-1 to Spurs.

Pascal Gross put Brighton in the lead from the penalty spot in the 17th minute. Pape Matar Sarr scored the equaliser for Spurs in the 61st minute, and Brennan Johnson found the winner in the sixth minute of injury time.

Anita Asante was following the match for BBC Sport, and she was impressed by the way that Sarr, who is rated highly by some pundits, scored.

Dejan Kuluseski found Sarr in a good position on the right-hand side with a great ball. The £14.6 million (Sky Sports) midfielder’s initial effort hit the frame of the goal and then blocked, but the 21-year-old, who was recently at the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal, made no mistake when he had a second bit at the cherry.

Asante said about Sarr’s goal on BBC Final Score: “Such good composure from Sarr.

“He gets himself into the right hand side of the 18 yard box, tries to play it off initially, but the ball ricochets back to him off Lewis Dunk.

“And it is quick thinking to compose himself and cushion the ball into the net to put Spurs level.”

Big win for Tottenham

In my opinion, the win against Brighton and Hove Albion was massive for Tottenham Hotspur in their quest to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season.

Spurs were not very convincing against the Seagulls and had to wait until the final moments to get the job done.

With Aston Villa doing extremely well, Tottenham could not afford to drop points at home, and I suspect that the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium faithful will be relieved that the team won in the end.
