Tottenham Hotspur have had a mixed relationship in the transfer market under Daniel Levy.

Following Ange Postecoglou’s arrival from Celtic last summer, it can’t be denied that he has been backed and many of the signings have done very well.

James Maddison admitted his shock at how good Micky van de Ven has been – both were signed last summer and became instant fan favourites.

But there have been other occasions where they have struggled really badly and you can name moments when Daniel Levy has embarrassed himself at Tottenham.

Quite a lot of players the London club let go, whether they wanted to move on to better things or they weren’t deemed good enough, have all gone on to win trophies.

You can point towards the obvious names, such as Kyle Walker at Manchester City, Kieran Trippier at Atletico Madrid, and even midfield flop Tanguy Ndombele won the title at Napoli, as Christian Eriksen is also picking up the medals at Manchester United.

But one man has gone under the radar and he has done tremendously well since leaving, even if he is playing in a league deemed low in quality.

Cameron Carter-Vickers only made five appearances in north London, before moving to Celtic on a loan deal, ironically enough under Postecoglou, won the double and then the Treble.

Scottish pundit Roger Hannah thinks if Celtic sold their ‘£6 million’ signing now, then they would certainly make a ‘profit’ because he is his team’s ‘best defender’, as he told Clyde 1.

The American has won more trophies at Parkhead (7) than he made appearances in the colours of Tottenham (5).

Cameron Carter-Vickers is Celtic’s best defender

“Cameron Carter-Vickers, again a loan, Celtic then again pushed the boat out, £6 million-ish for Carter-Vickers,” said Hannah.

“But he is now, by far and away, Celtic’s best defender and if they decided they wanted to sell Cameron Carter-Vickers tomorrow, then they would make a profit in that £6 million.”

Could Cameron Carter-Vickers return to the Premier League?

Rodgers is now facing a battle to keep hold of Carter-Vickers at Celtic, as sources have told HITC.

Three Premier League teams are keen on the hard-hitting defender – Marco Silva’s Fulham, newly-promoted Ipswich Town and Julen Lopetegui’s West Ham United.

Yes, Celtic fans will be desperate for the player to stay because he is key in the team dominating further in Glasgow.

Nonetheless, Carter-Vickers might not have been ready for the Premier League when he was at Spurs, but you feel he is ready to step into the Lions den again and show how much he has improved.
