Brands is said to have wanted to left-back at Everton.

PSV Eindhoven have announced the signing of rumoured Everton target Angelino from Manchester City.
The Sun reported earlier this month that Everton’s new sporting director Marcel Brands was a huge fan of the Spaniard, and was ready to battle Ajax and PSV – the club he recently left for Goodison Park – to sign him.
However, it remains to be seen if Everton ever did act on their alleged interest in Angelino, who was touted as a possible successor to Leighton Baines.
The left-back’s Philips Stadion move comes despite the newspaper’s claim the Dutch side had lacked the funds to afford his £10 million transfer fee.
And according to the Manchester Evening News, the deal for the 21-year-old is only worth around half that amount.
At that price, one suspects that Everton would have made an approach had truly wanted Angelino on board.
Should Everton have rivalled PSV for the former Manchester City man’s signature?
