Everton’s new sporting director reportedly wanted the Manchester City left-back last season.

Everton are set to rival two Dutch clubs for the signature of Manchester City left-back Angelino, according to the Sun.
Angelino, full name José Ángel Esmorís Tasende, impressed on loan to NAC Breda last season, and reportedly attracted interest from Ajax and PSV Eindhoven – the former club of Everton’s new sporting director, Marcel Brands.

The newspaper claims Brands is a huge fan of the Spaniard, who is seen as the ideal replacement for Leighton Baines at Goodison Park.
Manchester City are said to have quoted the Dutchman £10 million at PSV, where he lacked the funds to seal the move. And that could bode well for Everton, whose finances are thought to dwarf those of both PSV and Ajax.

Angelino has a year remaining on his contract at the Etihad Stadium, which could convince City to sell him this summer.
The 21-year-old moved to Manchester five years ago from the academy of Deportivo La Coruna and has spent time on loan with New York City, Girona, Mallorca and NAC Breda.
