Mauro Icardi has reportedly been dropped from PSG’s UEFA Champions League squad after the Ligue 1 giants offered out the Argentine international to the likes of Newcastle United and Manchester United.
According to Le Parisien, the 29-year-old striker has been excluded from PSG’s 25-man Champions League squad, with Christophe Galtier kicking off their European campaign this Tuesday against Italian giants Juventus as Icardi continues to be omitted from the French side.
PSG have been looking to offload Icardi all summer, with the reigning Ligue 1 champions reportedly offering the attacker out to Newcastle and United, proposals that were rejected by both Premier League sides, with Galatasaray now reportedly trying to sign the former Inter Milan star.
Signed for a reported £45m, Icardi’s time at PSG has been explosive, to say the least, yet the South American’s latest setback once again paints a bleak picture for the Argentine striker, who seemingly has no future in Paris as the European giants look to sell the forward once and for all.
Indeed, with transfer windows in Turkey, Portugal and Qatar yet to close, there’s a chance that Icardi could leave PSG in the coming days, and with the striker now excluded from Galtier’s Champions League squad, this final blow could be the catalyst needed to get the forward away from the City of Lights.
Whilst a Premier League move has been reported for some time, both Newcastle and United made the right decision to not take up PSG’s offer to sign the striker given Icardi’s poor form on the pitch in recent years and explosive life off the pitch, and this latest move from the French club must be what gets the striker out of Paris.
Omission from Champions League squad should be the end of Icardi at PSG

Icardi’s slow divorce from PSG has been cooking away in the background for what feels like years, and this decision from Galtier to drop the forward from his Champions League squad must be the final straw for the 29-year-old to leave the French capital for a new challenge.
After all, Icardi has no future at PSG, and two months ahead of the FIFA World Cup, the attacker could play his way into Argentina’s squad should he leave soon and sign for a club where he will be a regular starter and recapture the form that made the forward one of the most dangerous in Europe.
