Liverpool are yet to bring in a new signing this summer but may face some big decisions on who to let go from Arne Slot’s squad.
The Arne Slot era has started in fascinating fashion with Liverpool turning in some impressive pre-season displays.
Wins over Real Betis, Arsenal and, most recently, Manchester United have seen Liverpool fans gather real excitement for the new season.
The big kick-off against Ipswich Town is now on the horizon and Liverpool have been playing some scintillating football under new boss Slot.
Pundits may be predicting a slow start, but Liverpool are gathering momentum from pre-season friendlies.
These are only practice games but the way in which Liverpool players are adjusting to Slot’s style is enormously encouraging.

Russell Martin on Fabio Carvalho
Beating Manchester United is always enjoyable for Liverpool fans, even if it’s only in a pre-season game.
That was the case overnight as Liverpool beat United 3-0 in South Carolina, producing another impressive display.
Fabio Carvalho opened the scoring before Curtis Jones and Kostas Tsimikas added to the scoreline.
Carvalho is back at Anfield after loan spells with RB Leipzig and Hull City.
The first move didn’t work out at all but Carvalho impressed with Hull, bagging nine goals and two assists in 20 appearances.
Hull were hoping to keep hold of Carvalho but that won’t be happening after the Tigers missed out on promotion to the Premier League.
The 21-year-old is now back at Liverpool and hoping to impress Slot – something he is doing in style having scored against Arsenal and United.
Carvalho may look to nail down a spot in the Liverpool side but he is also attracting major interest.
Southampton boss Russell Martin has told Sky Sports that he is a fan of Carvalho and actually tried to sign him in January.
Martin admits that he still admires Carvalho, hinting that Southampton are still interested in a deal.
“He is a player we have liked for a while. We spoke in January but couldn’t get it done. He is a player I admire and like,” said Martin.
Transfer state of play
Southampton have been chasing an attacking midfielder and HITC understands that Celtic’s Matt O’Riley has been a key target.
Carvalho is on the radar too though with Martin all but confirming the interest.
The Athletic even claim that Southampton have made a bid worth up to £15million, but Liverpool have rejected that offer.
Liverpool allegedly will not sanction a loan deal and value Carvalho ‘considerably higher’ than the offer currently on the table.
Whether Southampton come back with another offer remains to be seen, but this is another potential sale for Liverpool to consider.
Wataru Endo has been wanted by Marseille and Liverpool may be tempted to consider bids for the Japan international.
Liverpool may want to add new signings but much will depend on whether certain players move on in the coming weeks.
