Wolves are now one of a dozen top-flight clubs interested in a transfer for Bristol City gem, Alex Scott. The midfielder has also been on Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur’s radars.

That is according to The Telegraph, which reports the hierarchy at Molineux are big fans of Scott. But the West Midlands club sense it will be difficult for them to sign the 19-year-old in January. He has at least 12 further top-flight clubs tracking his performances this season.

Bristol City will also only part with the England U20 international for fees north of £10m in the winter market. He holds an instrumental role in manager Nigel Pearson’s engine room at Ashton Gate. Scott has played and started in 24 of the Robins’ 25 Championship games.

The deep-lying talent has also laid on four assists across his second-tier appearances so far this season. While Scott’s form in the Championship returned the Guernsey native his U20 England debut in September. He had already played in the U18 and U19 Young Lions sides.

Scott has greatly impressed Wolves’ transfer department and management team with his efforts at Bristol City. They highly admire what he has achieved and could offer them in the future. But the array of rival suitors also tracking the teenager could threaten their pursuit.

Tottenham and Leeds are also interested in Scott’s transfer from Bristol City

Premier League clubs have long respected what Scott has given Bristol City since his first-team debut in April 2021. The former FC Guernsey prospect appeared on the transfer lists of Everton, Leicester City and West Ham United back in February, the Daily Mail reported.

While the Mirror credited Leeds and Tottenham with an interest in Scott’s transfer from Bristol City in April. The Whites and Spurs had scouted the midfielder over the tail end of last term. He had also stood out after showing great versatility to plug a gap at right-back.

But Scott is at his best when given a licence to create from centralised midfield areas. The results he produces from central roles, his style of play and appearance also saw the Daily Mail note that onlookers have previously nicknamed Scott as ‘The Guernsey Jack Grealish’.

While his performances this season have also caught AFC Bournemouth’s interest ahead of the January sales, per the Sunday Mirror (18/12, p68). Pearson has also been full of praise for Scott after playing 38 Championship games last season for four goals and two assists.

“He’s just a talented lad,” Pearson said, via Bristol Word, in June. “I don’t know whether it’s a testament to anything other than we recognise he’s a talent. His breakthrough season was pretty exceptional, to play 38 games in a Championship season is quite impressive.”
