AFC Bournemouth have reportedly joined the race to sign Bristol City wonderkid Alex Scott, with Leeds United and Tottenham previously being linked with the Championship youngster.

According to the Sunday Mirror (print edition – 18/12 pg. 68), Gary O’Neil has identified the 19-year-old midfielder as a target for the January transfer window, with Scott enjoying a breakout season with the Robins in the English second-tier.

The Guernsey-born talent has made over 20 Championship appearances for Bristol, registering four assists and drawing plenty of interest from Premier League clubs in the process, with the Mirror reporting that Scott, who is valued at £10m, is being watched by Leeds and Tottenham.

Likened to Manchester City superstar Jack Grealish as per Bristol Live, Scott has enjoyed a meteoric rise in the past 12 months, and Bournemouth are now the latest Premier League club to show interest in the teenage midfielder, who could soon be on the move to the Premier League.

Indeed, whilst Bournemouth are the latest club to show interest in Scott, the Cherries will find it hard to secure the midfielder’s signature given how strong the competition is for the youngster, with Leeds, in particular, the side who could cause the south coast side the most problems.

As we know, Jesse Marsch is a manager who prides himself in developing young players, and Scott could find the prospect of playing under the American at Leeds more enticing than moving to Bournemouth, even if O’Neil’s side are on the way up.

Scott has been a sensation for Bristol this season, with the youngster firmly establishing himself as one of the Championship’s next top talents and a player who will soon be playing Premier League football in the next year, and for Bournemouth, they could well lose the race for the midfielder to Leeds.

As we know, Leeds have been great at integrating young players into their main starting XI since their return to the Premier League, and Scott could find that his career will be better suited at Elland Road despite more immediate interest from Bournemouth.
