Arsenal defender William Saliba has admitted that he is very happy with Olympique Marseille, and that he does not regret joining the French giants for the season.
Speaking to RTL via GFFN, the 20-year-old centre-back snubbed a question about what will happen in regards to his future. Saliba is expected to return to Arsenal next summer after returning from Marseille. however, it isn’t a guarantee that the youngster will feature in Mikel Arteta’s first-team plans.
The defender joined Arsenal in 2019 for a reported fee of £27m according to BBC Sport. However, Saliba is yet to play a single minute of senior football for the Gunners, with the centre-back going out on loan three separate times, with Marseille his latest club.
With Mikel Arteta going big on Ben White this summer, the transfer poured more doubt over the future of Saliba, with the English defender creating a solid partnership with Gabriel Magalhaes which has formed a solid backbone for the Arsenal backline.
Indeed, supporters are eager for the French prospect to feature for the first team given how much Arsenal spent on him two years ago. And when asked about what his future holds, Saliba was not keen on talking about what will happen when he leaves Marseille.
Saliba said: “I prefer not to speak about my future, but I’m very good here. I don’t regret my decision. I’ve been very happy since day one. I have a year here and I’m going to give my all.”
Marseille hero Saliba is simply too good for Arsenal to discard

The defender’s loan move to Marseille this season has been a real eye-opener for supporters on just how good the 20-year-old is, with Saliba commanding the French giants at the back with grace and defensive quality. And the Gunners simply can’t afford to allow him to leave next year.
Whilst White and Gabriel have established themselves as the first-choice pairing, adding a third quality defender in Saliba will be key for Arsenal building on their success from this season, providing the Gunners return to European football.
