Omar Marmoush is starting to show why he was recently a target for Premier League giants Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur with an outstanding start to the Bundesliga campaign.
Oh Eintracht Frankfurt, you’ve done it again.
From Luka Jovic to Andre Silva, from Sebastien Haller to Randal Kolo Muani, Omar Marmoush appears to be the latest in a long line of talented centre-forwards to touch down at the Commerzbank Arena before being transformed into one of Europe’s finest number nines almost overnight.

Omar Marmoush in excellent Bundesliga form
Marmoush, linked with Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Arsenal in a window not so long ago, scored just five Bundesliga goals for Wolfsburg in 2022/23. The Egypt international has already outstripped that tally since moving to Frankfurt over the summer. In fact, he’s scored six times in his last five outings, hitting double figures in all competitions already.
Only a couple of months after Frankfurt sold Kolo Muani to Paris Saint-Germain for a cool £77 million, it already feels like a matter of time before Marmoush is earning Die Adler another eye-watering profit.
“He works extremely hard and is hard to defend against,” beams Frankfurt coach Dino Toppmoller, Marmoush hitting a brace in last weekend’s 3-0 hammering of Union Berlin (Bundesliga website).
“His pace makes him an awkward opponent for defenders when he runs in behind them. I like that he is very diligent and always listens. His goals are a reward for his effort.
“Omar is a very good player who has now discovered scoring goals. We’re working with him there. I just like that he’s extremely hard-working, that he listens, is keen and gets involved.
“He now also has a feeling for getting into dangerous areas again and again, and helping us with his footballing technique.”
Liverpool’s Mo Salah replacement?
Marmoush has been labelled, in some quarters, as the eventual successor for Mo Salah in the Egyptian national team. And, for the first time, this rapidly-improving, suddenly-prolific 24-year-old is starting to suggest that it might not be just at international level where he is capable of taking Salah’s place.
Liverpool are keeping tabs on potential Salah successors with Al-Ittihad refusing to take no for an answer. And should Marmoush play his way back onto Jurgen Klopp’s radar, Frankfurt’s latest marksman would no doubt get the backing from one Liverpool legend…
“Any club in the world would love to sign Salah, but I think he’s happy with Liverpool. But it’s up to him to choose whether he should leave or not,” Marmoush said back in 2022 (King Fut).
“To me, Mohamed Salah is the best player in the world. I spoke to him during my first camp with the national team. He helped me a lot and I learned a lot from him.”
