Sebastian Schindzielorz has hailed Jordi Osei-Tutu for having ‘enormous’ potential after VfL Bochum signed the young defender in a free transfer from Arsenal on Thursday, via Kicker.
The right-back has agreed a three-year contract with the Bundesliga outfit to terminate his relations with the Gunners after seven years. Osei-Tutu first joined the north London outfit as a scholar from Reading in 2015, before penning a young professional contract that year.

Arsenal afforded Osei-Tutu regular minutes through the club’s youth ranks along with loan moves in Britain and Europe. But the former Bochum, Cardiff City, Nottingham Forest and Rotherham United loanee failed to make any senior appearances at the Emirates Stadium.

Bochum sign Osei-Tutu from Arsenal in free transfer after seven years
Osei-Tutu spent the 2019/20 campaign on loan with Bochum and enjoyed his most senior appearances with any club so far. The 23-year-old played 22 times in all competitions and offered five goals plus three assists, each of which came through 21 Bundesliga 2 matches.
The slough-born right-back’s only outings in Arsenal’s first-team squad came as an unused substitute on seven occasions in all competitions. His last inclusion was in November 2018 with a Europa League visit to Vorskla Poltava during Unai Emery’s first months at the helm.
Bochum have now signed Osei-Tutu from Arsenal in a free transfer to terminate his seven-year stay in north London. The Vonovia Ruhrstadion natives ended the Bundesliga season in 13th-place last term during their first campaign in the German top-flight since 2009/10.

Schindzielorz hails Osei-Tutu after securing defender’s services for free
Bochum sporting director Schindzielorz has now hailed what is still to come from Osei-Tutu after signing the Arsenal prospect for free. The Unabsteigbaren chief is confident the 5 ft 9 gem has what it takes to step up to the Bundesliga, having kept tabs on him since his loan.
“We know Jordi Osei-Tutu very well,” Schindzielorz said. “The memories of his skills and strengths are still very present.
“We continued to watch him after his season at VfL and followed his development. Jordi has matured further, his potential is still enormous. We are optimistic that he will make the leap to the Bundesliga.”
As well as his natural position of right-back, Bochum have signed an option who can play at right-midfield in Osei-Tutu – even if the youngster never showed it in Arsenal’s first-team.
