Birmingham City’s ownership saga has been one of the most intriguing and bizarre stories of the past six months.
The Blues fans are absolutely desperate to be rid of BSHL as their owners, and there seemed to be light at the end of the tunnel with a deal that involved ex-Cagliari striker Maxi Lopez and businessman Paul Richardson. But lurking in the background has always been a deal involving Laurence Bassini.
Bassini has claimed for months that he’s close to buying the Midlands club, and it was claimed again on talkSPORT on Tuesday that he’s close to agreeing the deal.

Jim White relayed a message he had received from Bassini on talkSPORT.
“I am about to complete the deal,” White relayed.
“I am unable to join you this morning but I am able to give you the information that the deal is in the hands of solicitors.”
Will it happen?
Anyone who has followed this saga will know to take this claim with more than a pinch of salt.
Actually, you may be best off taking this with a tablespoon of salt. Bassini has a record of not quite telling the entire truth on this matter. Often seeking attention rather than giving actual updates.
However, if Bassini is to buy the Blues, we may already know who his first signing is.
Indeed, he stated earlier in the summer that he wanted to bring Kido Taylor-Hart in from Arsenal if he bought the Midlands club.
“It’s not a case of that, I’ve got builders that have gone in today to look at the lower tiers and at the changing rooms at the training ground which are a state. I’m also going to look to go back to category one (academy), and I’m also looking at a player Kido Taylor-Hart who is at Arsenal,” Bassini said.
This is certainly a situation to keep an eye on in the EFL, while Arsenal fans may also have a vested interest due to the Taylor-Hart link.
