Lautaro Martinez is one of the best strikers in the world, and there is no surprise that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the Inter Milan and Argentina international star.

The Times reported in May 2022 that Arsenal wanted to sign Martinez from Inter in the summer of 2022.

However, the striker turned down the chance to move to the Gunners because they did not finish in the top four of the Premier League table last season, meaning that they could not qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

Arsenal eventually signed Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City.

In October, Inter Live reported that Tottenham are planning a bid for Martinez and want to bring the 25-year-old to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to keep head coach Antonio Conte happy.

We covered the report here on HITC Sport at the time.

The striker was in action for Argentina against Saudi Arabia at the 2022 Qatar World Cup on Tuesday.

Martinez started the match and had the ball in the back of the net in the 35th minute.

However, it was ruled out because of offside.

Lionel Messi played the ball to Martinez, and the striker got it past the Saudi Arabia goalkeeper with a lovely disguised move.

Arsenal-linked Tottenham target Lautaro Martinez criticised

Former Manchester United star Roy Keane has criticised the reported Tottenham target on ITV (11:01am, November 22, 2022) for the timing of his run.

Keane said: “That’s poor play. He doesn’t need to be offside. He has got enough space in behind.”
