Manchester United have reportedly made an enquiry to sign Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez, who is also wanted by Tottenham with Arsenal failing with an attempt to land the forward this year.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Red Devils have made an approach for the Argentina international with PSG also making contact with the Nerazzurri over the 25-year-old striker. However, as per the report, Martinez is disinterested in an exit from Inter.
Whilst the attacker’s form has not been spectacular this season, Martinez is still regarded by many as one of the best strikers in Europe, with former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves describing the South American as ‘perfect’ in his style of play.
United are far from the only English club interested in signing Martinez, though, with CalcioMercatoWeb reporting that Tottenham would consider a move for the attacker should Harry Kane leave north London in 2023 amid interest from Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

Indeed, the Times also report that Arsenal were snubbed by Martinez during the summer transfer window this year following their failure to qualify for the UEFA Champions League, with Mikel Arteta’s side instead moving to sign Gabriel Jesus, a move that has worked wonders for the Gunners.
With a price tag of £86m, signing Martinez would be quite the move for either United or Tottenham, yet given the clubs two striker situations, the investment could well be worth it for either team should the opportunity to sign the Inter star arise in the coming months.
Manchester United signing Lautaro Martinez would sting for Tottenham

Martinez’s reputation as one of the best strikers in Europe is an appealing one for a club like Tottenham, who could soon be in the market for a replacement for Kane should the England captain take his talents to Germany in the final years of his prime, yet United pose a real threat for Antonio Conte’s side.
After all, United need a striker for the here-and-now, and Martinez would be quite the addition for Erik Ten Hag’s squad given the inconsistent nature of Marcus Rashford’s form and injury record, with Martinez himself likely open to a move to Old Trafford next year.
