Things haven’t gone smoothly for Steve Bruce since taking charge at Villa Park; do Villa fans want to stick or twist?

After a torrid start to the season under Italian boss Roberto Di Matteo, Aston Villa made the big decision of swapping managers early, moving to bring in former Birmingham City and Hull City boss Steve Bruce in October. However, after 19 games in charge, Bruce has a win percentage of just 37%, picking up 7 wins, 5 draws and 7 losses.

13 points from the play-off places, Aston Villa’s season has been a disappointing one so far, not only due to their current points total but also due to the amount of money they’ve spent over the summer and January to bring in top players. So, will Steve Bruce still be at the helm by next season? Would Steve Bruce like to see him stay? Or would they rather turn to someone else? Before you get a chance to vote, here’s a look at some possible names who might be available for Aston Villa…

Alan Pardew

Alan Pardew has been out of work since parting ways with Crystal Palace late last year, and would surely jump at the chance to manage a big club like Aston Villa. Enjoying successful spells with all the club’s he’s managed, such as Newcastle United, Crystal Palace and West Ham, Pardew also has a problem with not being able to arrest slides in performance; a factor that might weigh heavily on Villa fans minds after their awful last season in the Premier League.

After a torrid time with Derby County, Nigel Pearson has been out of work since last year. However, the former Leicester City manager is still considered to be just the kind of guy who can get underperforming squads back into shape and back into gear, and might be the right man to kick Aston Villa into action. Still accredited with much of the success of that Premier League winning Leicester City side, could Aston Villa take a gamble on the former Rams man?

Gary Rowett

It would be one hell of a controversial appointment, but after bringing in former Birmingham City manager Steve Bruce, would Villa fans be that angry if the club appointed ex-Blues boss, Gary Rowett. Arch-rivals Birmingham City have collapsed since the shock departure of Rowett, and the former Burton Albion is still out of work. Gathering plaudits from all over football for the incredible job he did with City, Gary Rowett is without doubt one of the best English managers who’s currently out of work.

Paul Heckingbottom

Paul Heckingbottom has done an outstanding job since taking over the reigns at Barnsley from Lee Johnson. Guiding the club to promotion to the Championship, Heckingbottom has turned Barnsley into a top 10 side, making the Tykes one of the big surprises of the season. Following in the footsteps of former Brentford manager, Mark Warburton, could Heckingbottom be set for a move to an even bigger club in the summer?
