Tottenham Hotspur travel to the Emirates to take on Arsenal tomorrow.

Mauricio Pochettino, manager of Spurs looks on prior to the Pre-Season Friendly match beween Tottenham Hotspur and Juventus at Wembley Stadium on August 5, 2017 in London, England.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino sat down for his pre-match press conference ahead of his side’s class with Arsenal tomorrow, and delivered a somewhat concerning update on Toby Alderweireld, as quoted by popular football news website Football.London.

Tottenham have a whole host of players who are doubts for the North London Derby, but the Belgian is the only one who has bene categorically ruled out of the Emirates clash.

Toby Alderweireld #4 of Tottenham Hotspur passes the ball in the second half against Roma during the International Champions Cup on July 25, 2017 at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey.

The Belgian centre-back has become such an important player for the Lilywhites, since joining the club from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2015, forging a formidable partnership with countryman Jan Vertonghen at the heart of Spurs’ defence.

Pochettino though, told reporters that the 28-year-old could very well be absent from the first-team until after Christmas, in what will be a major blow for Tottenham, as quoted by Football.London:

“It is not a big issue like Toby Alderweireld. Toby is out. We need to assess him. We expect longer than we previously [thought] when the problem happened. Maybe after Christmas. Maybe. That is the expectation. It will be longer [than we thought]. The injury is in his hamstring.”
