The Tottenham Hotspur striker is now considered to be one of the most dangerous front men in world football, but can he be compared to the Real Madrid ace?
Harry Kane was in sparkling form for Spurs once again yesterday, during their 3-0 win away at APOEL Nicosia in the Champions League, and Mauricio Pochettino responded to reporters when asked to compare his star man with Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, as quoted by popular football news website Football.London.
The 24-year-old has been superb for Tottenham since bursting onto the scene in north London three years ago, scoring 108 goals in 173 outings in all competitions.
Many fans and pundits expect the England international to play a crucial role in the Lilywhites’ push for Premier League glory this term, and he has begun where he left off last season, scoring nine goals in eight outings thus far for Pochettino’s men.
Kane has been in such scintillating form of late, that Pochettino was asked by reporters if his star striker is now on the same level as Cristiano Ronaldo.
Pochettino told Football.London:
“I think they are completely different type of players. For me Harry is one of the best strikers. Cristiano is different. Not a striker, like Messi, a different type of player. It doesn’t change my perception of Harry Kane because today he scored three goals. For me he’s one of the best as I told you. But I don’t want to describe him as I did after West Ham because it was so controversial the description.
He went on to respond to a question asking if he would swap Kane for Ronaldo:
“I don’t know what I need to say. Why? Come on. Cristiano is fantastic, one of the best. Harry is one of the best and will get better because he’s so young. I cannot joke about that because both are fantastic. Both are the type of players you want in your team, in the same team.”
Despite Kane’s sensational run of form over the past two or three years, he still has a long way to go to even be considered as an equal to the Portuguese ace.

The 32-year-old four time Ballon d’Or winner has arguably been the greatest player on the planet for the past decade, and has racked up 109 Champions League goals in the process.

And if Kane can go on to emulate just half of what the Madrid man has achieved, he will himself go down as one of the games all-time greats.
