Tottenham Hotspur are expected to mount a serious challenge for the Premier League title this season.
Spurs have begun this season’s title challenge with a mixed bag of results , but finally seem to be finding their feet. Despite the fact that they are already five points adrift of the two Manchester clubs, they still have a very good chance of catching them at the top of the table, and here’s why…
1. Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli:
Spurs’ famous three amigos continue to produce the goods for their side, week-in, week-out. They have been directly involved in 12 of the 14 goals that Tottenham have scored this season, and their importance to the side is obvious to see. If they can maintain their level of performance, the Lilywhites have every chance of making a serious push for the Premier League title.
2. Mauricio Pochettino:
The Argentine is widely considered to be one of the best young managers in world football, and the manner is which he continues to motivate his squad of players, despite operating on just the 6th highest wage bill in the top flight, is rather remarkable. The style that he implements is both exciting and pragmatic at the same time, and the respect that he garners from his players equates to them always giving 100 per cent for the club. It will surely only be a matter of time before Pochettino guides his side to major honours.
3. Summer transfer business:
After a slow start to the summer transfer window, with many Spurs fans demanding some quality additions to the squad, Daniel Levy proved that patience is a virtue, and good things come to those who wait. Roughly £80 million was spent on Davinson Sanchez, Fernando Llorente, Serge Aurier and Juan Foyth. Pochettino bolstered his squad where it needed to be strengthened and that new-found strength in depth could prove to be crucial during the business end of the season.

4. Mousa Dembele / Victor Wanyama:
The two Tottenham stars form one of the most formidable central midfield partnerships in the Premier League. The combination of power, pace and skill on the ball makes the Belgian and the Kenyan a match made in heaven. They will both be vital for the north London outfit, and their ability to remain fit for the entirety of the campaign could make the difference between success and failure for Pochettino’s men.
5. Average age of first team squad combined with last season’s experience:
Tottenham’s average age of their first-team squad is 23.7. With such a busy and physically punishing schedule in England’s top flight, this could prove to be crucial to their chances of success. Whilst people may point out that a side with such a young average age lacks experience, it must be highlighted that they have made a sustained push for the Premier League title in both of the last two campaigns. And with that experience of challenging for the title at the business end of the season, Tottenham have every chance of going one step further this time around.
