Liverpool have been told that Mauricio Pochettino is now keen to work with Jürgen Klopp target Mason Mount at Chelsea.
The England international only has 12 months remaining on his contract in west London, and according to The Athletic, Liverpool lead the race for his signature as he is currently refusing to sign fresh terms.
Now, there has been an interesting development.
What’s the story?
Well – according to the Daily Mail – Pochettino views Mount as a key player, and would like to work with the Chelsea No.19 when he takes over from Frank Lampard as expected.
The Argentine is said to be a huge admirer of the Portsmouth-born midfielder, and feels his work rate, as well as his quality on the ball, would suit his tactical setup.

However – as detailed by The Athletic – Chelsea must make sales before June 30th in order to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations, following a bizarre year in which more than £600m has been spent on a scattergun transfer approach.
A separate story from the Daily Mail claims that Mount is keen to join Liverpool and work with Klopp at Anfield, so Pochettino may have a task on his hands to convince the 24-year-old to stay at Stamford Bridge.
Liverpool may face tough negotiations for Mount
Despite Mount’s apparent desire to join Liverpool, the Reds may find talks with Chelsea to be difficult.
The Athletic believe the Blues value their academy graduate at £70m, which is quite the sum considering he only has 12 months remaining on his contract.
That stance, coupled with the fact Pochettino wants to work with Mount, could see the England international’s future drag on throughout the summer, or he may even end up stuck at Chelsea before leaving on a free transfer next summer.
It is sure to be one of the summer’s biggest transfer sagas, so make sure to keep an eye out for more developments.
