Darragh MacAnthony told the Transfer Show on Sky Sports (03/08/21 at 7:15 pm) that he told the agent of Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish to send him to Liverpool.

The Peterborough owner, who is a boyhood Liverpool fan, shared that he knows the agent of the Villa superstar, who is close to moving to Manchester City for £100 million.

Whilst Manchester City splash the cash in a wild fashion once again, their Premier League title rivals, like always, do everything in a well-structured manner.

MacAnthony shared his thoughts on Liverpool’s transfer business so far and what he told Grealish’s agent.

“Big-time (Liverpool fan),” said MacAnthony. “No (they aren’t doing enough business), but they are keeping their best players.

“We are talking about another team (Villa) losing their best player. I understand where they are coming from. We are definitely short.

“The job Jurgen Klopp has done is miraculous. When you see the net spend over the last five or six years. I think Liverpool are seventh or eighth in that table.

“You hear about ‘Grealish £100 million’ and ‘Kane £100 million’. I wish. I know Grealish’s agent and I was joking with him two months ago because he has one of our players in his stable, ‘please send Jack Grealish to Liverpool’.

“But Liverpool aren’t going to spend a £100 million on a player. But I wish they would. When you think about ownership, they are worth eight and a half billion, so they can afford to do so.”

Given that Manchester City won the Premier League title last season at a canter, the soon-to-be signing of Grealish will make life that bit easier for them come next season because it was pretty difficult before, wasn’t it?

Not only that, it all seems as though they want to sign Harry Kane as well, so perhaps Pep Guardiola is building towards trying to get a goal in the Champions League final this time around.

It’s pretty remarkable that teams can push to such lengths to sign such players because the competitiveness of the Premier League has well and truly gone out of the window.
